AM2434: Ferrite beads for VDDA_TEMP0/1 and VDDS_OSC

Genius 17385 points
Part Number: AM2434

Hello,

On LM-AM243 launch pad, ferrite beads are located on  VDDS_OSC, VDDA_TEMP0 and VDDA_TEMP1 line.
Can these beads be removed? My customer is designing their own prototype with AM2434 and is asking me if these are abosolutely required.

Regards,
Oba

  • Hi Oba,

Sorry for the delayed response due to the holidays.

The ferrite beads are needed for filtering the specific supplies where they enter the AM243x device to keep any noise from crossing from one supply to the next on the shared voltage rails.  While these aren't strictly "required", and the device will function without these filters, having the filters in place is needed for optimal performance of the device.  Especially the VDDS_OSC rail as this powers the oscillator portion of the device.

    Thanks,
    Mike
