MSPM0L1306: SYSOSC accuracy with lower tolerance ROSC

Part Number: MSPM0L1306

Hello,

I have a customer who wanted to know if there was a way to calculate the overall system oscillator accuracy with a given rosc tolerance? Is there a spreadsheet or some sort of calculator? I see there's a table in the TRM but that assumes the 0.1% tolerant resistor.

What's the minimum tolerance required to get +/- 2% accuracy?

  • Hi Munan,

I think below parts of the TRM gives the example to calculate the accuracy of the SYSOSC:

2.3.1.2.3.1 SYSOSC FCL in External Resistor Mode (ROSC)

  • Sal,

This takes a good amount of effort to understand and go through.

I created an excel calculator with these steps. Let me know if you see any issues, but maybe we want to have a tool to do this instead of just having the instructions in the TRM.

  • Hi Munan,

As the calculator you upload here, it is great to auto SYSOSC accuracy calculation.

A suggestion on this: the "Resistor Tolerance %" can not manually modify, there are only three option to select, and I think this need optimization.

I will forward the thread and your suggestion to msp tools team, and I believe they will take carefully consideration whether to integrate the feature in tools.

  • Hey Sal,

Yep, you can add additional resistor tolerances by adding to the RTOL section in the lower right, but this was just something quick and dirty for the customer so feel free to adjust as needed Slight smile
