AM2634-Q1: Recommended socket for AM2634-Q1 BGA package

Part Number: AM2634-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM2634,

Dear Champs,

My customer is looking for a socket for AM2634 to test SW by changing devices.
Do we have any suggested sockets for the ZCZ NFBGA-N324 (15 mm × 15 mm) Package of AM2634-Q1 or socket EVM?

Thanks and Best Regards,

SI.

  • Hi SI,

We do not have any suggested sockets for customer to use for the Sitara MCU devices.  We recommend the customer reaches out to their preferred socket vendor with the package details at the end of the datasheet and ask the vendor for recommendations on what to use.

One additional consideration, the decoupling for Sitara MCU devices is extremely important and needs to be as close to the pins as possible.  Many BGA sockets rely on a backing plate that goes on the underside of the PCB for stability.  This backing plate usually needs to be custom milled to fit around the decoupling capacitor network underneath the device.  Trying to move the decoupling outside of the socket area will significantly impact the decoupling network performance and may impact the performance of the MCU device itself.

    Thanks,
    Mike
