MSPM0C1104: How to program MSPM0C1104 from external host

Hi team,

My customer is evaluating MSPM0C1104. For their design, one external host (SOC MPU or MCU) connects to MSPM0C1104. They ask if there is any way to update FW from external host ?

If yes, please provide the HW reference design, SW example code and user guide.

Hi Jerry,

The typical method for MSPM0 devices is through the device's BSL (boot strap loader) which is located in the device ROM. Unfortunately, this particular MSPM0C110x family is 'cost reduced' and therefore does not have a BSL in ROM. The customer would have to implement their own boot loader as part of their application and manage the interface and FLASH memory updates.

What kinds of MSPM0 part numbers can support BSL ?

In "SLAAE88A" it mentions "MSPM0L1306" and "MSPM0G3507" can be BSL target devices.

Hi Jerry,

Yes, this is correct. Both the MSPM0L and MSPM0G families have BSL in ROM and support I2C and UART by default. The BSL also supports "plug-in" interfaces such as SPI or other custom.
