AM2634: LP-AM263 + BP-AM2BLDCSERVO, cannot configure SPI

Part Number: AM2634
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BP-AM2BLDCSERVO, LP-AM263, SYSCONFIG, LP-AM243

Good day,

On the board BP-AM2BLDCSERVO SPI interface is connected as follows (using BoosterPack connector's numbers):

SPI_CLK: J5-47

SPI_CS0: J6-58

SPI_D0: J6-55

SPI_D1: J6-54

On the LP-AM263 board, they are mapped as follows:

J5-47: SPI1_CLK

J6-58: SPI1_Cs0

J6-55: SPI0_D0

J6-54: SPI0_D1

The problem is that I cannot configure an SPI controller so it uses these pins. Sysconfig allows to configure all pins from SPI0 or all pins from SPI1, but does not allow to mix them. Please advise how should I configure the SPI to work with these boards.

Regards,

Dmitry

  • Hi Dmitry,

I made a mistake on the LP-AM263 E2 version where I swapped some of the SPI0 and SPI1 pins across the two BoosterPack sites. While the pins are overall accessible across the 80-pin connectors, they are not directly compatible with BoosterPack that need those pins consolidated on a single 40-pin connector SPI channel. So you would not be able to connect these on the required BP-AM2BLDCSERVO SPI pins.

This has been corrected for next LP-AM263 Rev A version, but that is not available yet. For now, the LP-AM243 EVM is the most supported for the BP-AM2BLDCSERVO. You can also check out DRV8x BoosterPacks (hardware controlled versions) which are compatible with the LP-AM263.

  • Hi Randy,

then you probably should indicate that on your website, as now these kits are advertised as compatible, and we have already ordered them.

Will I be able to do a manual rework for these lines, for example to cut and swap SPI0 and SPI1 lines if they run on top or bottom? Please advise if you find that doable. Unfortunately we do not use Altium, so I cannot look for this myself.

    Regards,

    Dmitry

  • Hi Dmitry,

Agreed and I will see what mods are feasible for you.

    Thank you,
