LP-XDS110: Can't read from backchannel UART using another tool but CCS

I'm using the connector J102 to connect to my board.

However, I think I've been unprecise in my request, due I confused the pathway of printf and and pathway of microcontroller UART: what I see is that printfs are routed to CCS console via XDS110, but it is NOT the UART backchannel, correct? UART backchannel needs to be connected to the UART pins of the microcontroller, correct?

Hi Daniele,

That is correct, and the J1202 connector does not carry the UART signals, as far as I know.

You thus have to add two extra wires, and plug thoses into the ">>RXD" and "<<TXD" headers of the LP-MSPM0L1306 launchpad.

Is there a way to see printfs messages in other way than CCS console? Or do I have to redirect printf to UART? How?

Just for curiosity and completeness, how does the printf output to CCS console work? is it documented somewhere?

Not that I know of, in the MSP430's the debugger simply reads some shared memory, which really slows the machine down, which is why I like the serial debugging.
