Hi BU experts,
I sent an email to sitara_industrial_comms_champions@list.ti.com couple days ago but not received any answer, so I put the issue into this forum.
Customer is evaluating our AM243x in PLC/Remote-IO EEs, and adopt our industrial communication protocol solutions. They want to know:
1. For EtherNET/IP protocol, how TI manages the Vendor ID/Product codes for customer. What is the TI’s strategy and should customer buy their own Vendor ID/Product codes?
2. What is the Profinet RT/IRT stack’s support status or plan? How customer applies the stack and its demo right now?
Please help reply the above 2 inquires, thanks.
Regards,
Will
Hi Will Gao,
Thanks for your query.
I was out of office, so could not respond.
Can you please raise 2 separate threads for 2 different query ?
It will help other customers as well.
Please allow me some time to check internally and get back to you.
Best Regards
Ashwani
Hi,
The EthernetIP example supports option to change the VendorID and Product codes . Please find the details here - https://software-dl.ti.com/processor-industrial-sw/esd/ind_comms_sdk/am243x/09_00_00_03/docs/am243x/ethernetip_adapter/group___e_i___a_p_i___a_d_p___i_d_e_n_t_i_t_y.html
Please refer to the link for Profinet Support - https://software-dl.ti.com/processor-industrial-sw/esd/ind_comms_sdk/am243x/09_01_00_03/docs/api_guide_am243x/INDUSTRIAL_COMMS_TI_STACK.html#INDUSTRIAL_COMMS_TI_STACK_PROFINET

Hi Prajith,
What customer wants to know is not to modify the vendor ID and product codes, but if they want to certificate the EtherNET/IP solution for their product (based on AM243x and TI's EtherNET/IP solution), can they just use the TI's vendor ID directly, or should buy their own ID? This is about TI's strategy on how to manage the EtherNET/IP solution's commercial availability on customer side.
Hi Will,
Recommendation is to go with their own values. We have typically seen customer going with their own Vendor ID and Product codes. More relevant to Product code as a customer can implement any product by using appropriate Stack.

Prajith
