MSPM0L1306: Shutdown example how come waking from shutdown on PA18 doesn't trigger bootloader?

Hello,

I see this note on the TRM which states that if the BSL pin is asserted when the MSPM0 comes out of SHUTDOWN, then the device will enter BSL:

But in the example we use, PA18 is the switch to wake up from Shutdown and it does not appear to force the device into BSL (LEDs continue blinking to indicate wakeup count). However, if I wake up the device from the button PA18 this does not happen.

Is there some sort of override in the BSL or wakeup logic which prevents BSL entry in the case where the wakeup pin is the same as the BSL pin?

Hi,

Exiting from SHUTDOWN triggers a BOR reset. A BOR reset will request the MCU run boot code. In the boot code, it will check the BSL invoke pin status and determine whether it enters BSL mode.

So, if your BSL invoke pin is using PA18 and you are using high voltage to wake MCU up from SHUTDOWN mode, The MCU should runs into BSL mode. There is no override or other things prevents BSL entry in your case.

Thanks for the clarification here, however our shutdown example uses PA18:

/* Defines for USER_SWITCH_1: GPIOA.18 with pinCMx 19 on package pin 22 */
#define GPIO_SWITCH_USER_SWITCH_1_PIN                           (DL_GPIO_PIN_18)

And if you look at the schematic for the Launchpad closing SW1 connects PA18 to 3.3V which would also assert the BSL invoke, at least in theory:

So how come the example doesn't go into BSL mode?

Update results here.

We have confirmed that the pin check is bypassed when MCU is wake up from SHUTDOWN mode. So, the MCU will not going into BSL mode when waking from SHUTDOWN mode no matter what status is on the BSL invoke pin. This change is made on the mass production devices. If the customer is testing on some early version samples, the pin check is not bypassed. It will run into BSL mode in this case.
