TM4C129ENCPDT: Abnormal Operation

Part Number: TM4C129ENCPDT

I have a question.During serial connection on the USB0DM and USB0DP pins, a reset occurred several times, after which the surface temperature of the device became much higher than normal and the current consumption was also much higher.
The WDT count was 0 mom when the resets occurred.
Serial connection was then disabled, and PP0, PP1, SSI0CLK, PA3, SSI0XDAT0, and SSI0XDAT1 also stopped functioning. Has such a phenomenon ever been reported? What could be the cause?Thank you in advance for your understanding.

  • Hi,

Do you have the same issue when running the same code on the LaunchPad? If it is running fine on the LaunchPad then I would suggest you diagnose at your custom board level. Please compare between the LaunchPad schematic and your board to see if you could spot any subtle differences. Check if you have recommended decap on the VDD and VDDC supplies. It is possible that the power supply is not stable and trigger a brown-out reset. You might want to do resistance check on the I/Os and see if there is any shorts which can lead to high temp and high current.

Please refer to this TM4C129 System Design Guideline for best practices on the board design. https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/spma056

The WDT count was 0 mom when the resets occurred.

I'm not clear what you mean here about WDT. Are you using the Watchdog? To isolate the problem, I will suggest you disable the Watchdog and will you continue to get resets? If yes, then it is likely a hardware issue as mentioned at the board level.
