Hi all,
I‘m Thanh, an undergrad senior majoring in „Embedded Systems - Aerospace Engineering“ at the German Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University. In the future, our university plans on launching cube-sized satellites into low earth orbit. Subsequently, we are looking into using Cortex-R5 processors to drive these. Among other processors, we are currently considering your RM57L873 microcontroller. Your LAUNCHXL2-RM57L Hercules LaunchPad appears to be an ideal development platform to test these. Ideally, it would be optimal for us to use existing IDEs, e.g., Visual Studio, Eclipse, VS Code w/ PlatformIO, etc. For instance, the CC2652 has promising and viable alternatives to CCS (https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless-connectivity/zigbee-thread-group/zigbee-and-thread/f/zigbee-thread-forum/1024788/cc2652r-platformio-arduino-for-cc2652?keyMatch=platformio). One important aspect to make alternatives like these work is OpenOCD.
Are there any plans for implementing OpenOCD support of the LAUNCHXL2-RM57L LaunchPad? Specifically, do you plan on writing drivers and configuration files required for flashing and debugging?
Of course, I am also more than happy to invest some time into implementing OpenOCD support myself. To my knowledge, implementing OpenOCD support is largely centered around writing a flash driver for the F021 chip. Unfortunately, the Hercules F021 Flash API does not appear to support RM57L873 chips. AFAIK, not having this may complicate implementing the necessary flash driver.
Is it perhaps possible for you to update the Flash API? I apologize for this basic question but can you tell me how to flash in general using this F021 chip? I was unable to find further information on the internet.
Thanks in advance. I‘m looking forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Thanh
