AM2432: Suitable Pins to Support the Connection with CC-Link Peripheral Chip MFP3N

Part Number: AM2432
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG

Tool/software:

Hi TI Experts,

Customer is working on AM2432 SDK9.2.

They want to connect AM24 with the CC-Link Peripheral Chip MFP3N. The physical layer is 485 interface.

The detailed interface information is below.

This is at the Page 22 of MFP3N reference manual below.

CC-Link Remote Device Station Communication LSI MFP3N Reference Manual sh080624engh.pdf

May I know is there any suitable pins in our AM24x device that could support the connection with this CC-Link Peripheral Chip MFP3N?

Thanks a lot,

Kevin

  • Hello Kevin,

    Thank you for the query.

I am not familiar with the  MFP3N chip.

Based on the interface diagram, GPMC could be one of the interfaces that customer could have a look.

    Regards,

    Sreenivasa

  • Hello Sreenivasa,

Thanks very much for your help.

    The AM243x device currently we're using AM2432BKEGHIALXR.

I try to config GPMC pins by the TI online config tool.

It's strange that in the datasheet shows both ALX and ALV have the GPMC pins, but I can't find GPMC option in the config tool for ALX device.

    SysConfig (ti.com)

  • Hello Kevin,

    Thank you.

    Data sheet reference

5.3.12 GPMC MAIN Domain Instances Table 5-44. GPMC0 Signal Descriptions

is there an option to select sync and async mode . Could you please check.

    Regards,

    Sreenivasa

  • Hi Sreenivasa,

Let me summarize the steps with details.

Step 1: Enter the sysconfig tool link shown below.

    SysConfig (ti.com)

Step 2: Select ALV data shown below.

Step 3: Add the GPMC shown below, as you could see there is no sync and async mode option.

Step 4: Select ALX data shown below.

Step 5: When we add the GPMC, it will have the below problem.

So that is why customer Danny is asking why she could not find GPMC option in ALX device.

And in the ALV device setting i also did not find the option of sync and async mode you proposed.

Could you help double check please?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

  • Thanks Kevin so much! Your screenshots are exactly what I'd like to show. ^_^

My laptop got some issues to paste screenshots this morning.

Additionally, I'd like to know, is it possible to use AM2432BKEGHIALXR to realize the function?

  • Hi All,

    Thank you for the inputs.

Let me check internally and update you.

    Regards,

    Sreenivasa

  • Hello Sreenivasa,

Many thanks for your help, is there any update?

I'm trying to make the question more clear.

Is that possible to use AM2432BKEGHIALXR to realize a parallel port function?

If yes, how to config correctly by the SysConfig tool?

MPU requirements from MFP3N are as below:

"The software to be developed can perform data communications by reading/writing data from/to the memory without the consideration of protocols."

Signal requirements as below (Signals highlight in red in the picture below):

    1. 16bit/8bit Address/Data multiplexing port

    2. Address Valid (active low) or Address Latch Enable (ASTB)

    3. Read signal (RD)

    4. Write signal (WR)

    5. Refresh data receive completion signal (INT):This pin is set to "H" when the refresh data receive processing at MFP3N is completed and set to "L" when a refresh cycle end frame is received.

  • Hello Danny Liu,

Thank you for the query and additional inputs.

Based on the data sheet and as one of you mentioned above, the GPMC interface that could perform this function seems to be available in the ALX package.

Looks like this is not enabled in the sysconfig.

I have reached out internally and will update with the inputs i receive.

    Regards,

    Sreenivasa

  • Hi Sreenivasa,

May I know is there any update?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

  • Hello Sreenivasa,

    Is there any update?

Can GPMC interface enable in  the ALX package?

If not, would you please help suggest a proper solution?

In general, we need a MPU with EtherCAT slave port (2 x MII), and a 8-16 bit GPMC interface (for the connection to CC-LINK IC). would you please suggest a proper cheap solution for that?

  • Hi All,

    Thank you for following.

I have reached out internally to the syssconfig experts to support.

The AM64x ALV package support GMPC interface and also the MII interface.

I guess it would be the same for the AM24x.

    Regards,

    Sreenivasa

  • Hi All,

Looks like the ALX package does not support GPMC interface.

As mentioned above, ALV package has to be selected.

    Regards,

    Sreenivasa
