TM4C129XNCZAD: Help! When I power up my device without the JTAG cable connected the display becomes sluggish

Part Number: TM4C129XNCZAD

Tool/software:

I have taken over a project, and I'm trying to figure out everything that's important.  We are using the ICDI on the EVM as a debug probe to debug/program our controller board.  When I power on our device with the cable connected and the evaluation board powered on, our touch screen display is very responsive.

When I disconnect the eval board and power on, my touch screen display develops a huge lag.  What kind of things should I look for?

  • Hi Mark,

I don't really know the cause of the issue. When you said there is a lag, how long was it compared to when the ICDI is connected? The only thing I'm suspecting right now is the the lack of pullup resistors on the JTAG inputs and particularly the RST input . Refer to this app note for details. https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/spma075 When the ICDI is unplugged, the RST input to the target device may be floating and the device may be in an intermediate state to come out of the reset compare to when the debugger is connected. I will suggest you add the pull up resistors on the highlighted yellow JTAG inputs.
