AM2634: Change boot mode in software

Dear TI team,

is there any way to temporarily change the bootmode of an AM263x "in software"?

We would like a device to normally boot in QSPI mode, but for updates it would be good if we could temporarily switch to UART mode, e.g. for just one warm-reboot.

Hello Dominic,

It is not possible to change those bootmodes with software - the device will always sample the SOP pins to determine what mode is booted.

a follow-up question has come up: When are the SOP pins sampled? Only during PORz, or also for a warm reset?

Hello Dominic,

Specifically its sampled when the internal 1.8V LDO is stable, and warm reset would not impact that LDO so in terms of resets, only PORz would trigger a new sampling of SOP pins.
