Hi,
My customer wants to make two AM2434s communicate via FSI with high bandwidth and low latency for multi-axis servo control and have a plan to expand to 3-chip solution for 15-axis by adding option board in the future. For this concept, FSI and Sync signals need to be connected between two boards. I heard the following thread on e2e.
In this case of using cable, LVDS transceivers are needed. How about in the case of using Board to Board connector without cable ? Does it require LVDS transceivers too ?
Thanks and regards,
Hideaki
Hi Hideaki, quick answer is yes, point to point connection can be directly done. However, using LVDS (TMDSFSIADAPEVM Daughter card | TI.com) is highly recommended to clean up signal and keep synchronization.
I will discuss later with our FSI experts to get their recommendations for this specific use case.
thank you,
Paula
Hi Hideaki, let me clarify something, when mentioning "board to board" connector, which type of connection are you proposing? are all the devices in the same board?
thank you,
Paula
Hi Hideaki, I confirmed that if both devices are in the same board or with direct board to board connection (in other words the total distance between devices is not too long) FSI signal integrity should be OK and LVDS is not needed.
Thank you,
Paula
