AM2634: Suggestion for SRAM & Flash MPN which is having driver support of AM263x series

Part Number: AM2634

Tool/software:

Hi

Suggest  SRAM & Flash MPNs which can be used with AM263x series with maximum memory size & operating frequency possible.

Is there any document available with suggestions on SRAM & Flash parts.

Will AM2634 support CY62187EV30LL-55BAXI to its maximum operating frequency ?

Regards

Bivin

  • Hi Bivin,

For flash devices, please see the AM263x Flash Selection Guide.

For an SRAM example, please see the TMDSHSECDOCK-AM263, which is equipped with a 64Mb PSRAM device for interfacing with the AM263x GPMC peripheral.

    Regards,

    Brennan

  • Hi

    Thanks for sharing details.

    Refer image below

Have few queries on the same.

    1. Is external RAM support of AM263x devices limited to PSRAM or is there any preference for the use of the same.

    2. What is the maximum clock rate supported for GPMC, suggested part CY62187EV30LL-55BAXI  had Access Time of  55 ns over 70ns of PSRAM (IS67WVE4M16EBLL-70BLA1) in document.

    Please clarify.

    Regards

  • Hi Brennan

    Reply on below mail.

  • Hi Bivin,

Apologies on the delay in replies due to the 4th of July holiday in the US.

    1. Is external RAM support of AM263x devices limited to PSRAM or is there any preference for the use of the same.

The GPMC can communicate with a wide range of external devices:

    • External asynchronous or synchronous 8-bit wide memory or device (non burst device)
    • External asynchronous or synchronous 16-bit wide memory or device
    • External asynchronous or synchronous 32-bit wide memory or device
    • External 16-bit non-multiplexed NOR flash device
    • External 16- and 32-bit address and data multiplexed NOR Flash device
    • External 8-bit and 16-bit NAND flash device
    • External 16-bit and 32-bit pseudo-SRAM (pSRAM) device

    2. What is the maximum clock rate supported for GPMC, suggested part CY62187EV30LL-55BAXI  had Access Time of  55 ns over 70ns of PSRAM (IS67WVE4M16EBLL-70BLA1) in document.

The maximum clock rate supported for GPMC is 100 MHz.

    Brennan

  • Hi Brennan

Is there any preferred SRAM family which are supported by GPMC default driver, which means libraries available for read & write without calibration.

Can you comment on the support of GPMC driver on CY62187EV30LL-55BAXI IC.

    Regards

    Bivin

  • Hi Bivin,

GPMC do support interface for SRAM family. The maximum clock rate supported for GPMC interface in AM263x is 100MHz.
We have tested the GPMC interface with CY7C10612G30-10ZSXIT.

Can you comment on the support of GPMC driver on CY62187EV30LL-55BAXI IC

This part number has similar interface as  CY7C10612G30-10ZSZIT and hence GPMC will be able to support this part.

Unfortunately we don't have a driver for this below mentioned part number currently. But the PSRAM driver available in mcu_plus_sdk_am263x_09_02_00_56 can be used as a base reference model for the GPMC Timing Configurations.
For the current release the timing configurations are hard coded macros and are present in gpmc.h file. This can be tweaked as per the timing requirements of CY62187EV30LL-55BAXI.

    Path: mcu_plus_sdk_am263x_09_02_00_56/source/drivers/gpmc\v0/gpmc.h

Please refer to GPMC Chapter in AM263x TRM for more understanding regarding the timing configurations and Figure 13-126.-GPMC to 16-Bit Non-Multiplexed Memory for understanding the interface.
