MSPM0G3507: source of "User must select a device after migration. User must make sure to select the same device as the CCS Launch Device setting for proper configuration" error?

Part Number: MSPM0G3507

Tool/software:

I have made several attempts to create a new project from an existing project.  I create the project, I edit / change NOTHING, I build the project and it fails every time with this message:

"User must select a device after migration. User must make sure to select the same device as the CCS Launch Device setting for proper configuration."

Now here is the funny thing.  You can't create a project unless you pick a processor, so I DID select a device, and the error message refers to a "migration".  What "migration"?  Again, I  changed NOTHING and compiled exactly what was created from the template.  I "migrated" nothing.

  • Hello Chris,

Can you help to confirm that:

1). Did the "error" occurs when you build the example project imported from SDK or when you build the new project you generated by yourself ?

2). Can you show me the completed figure about the "error" because I think this info shouldn't be an error, which should just be a warning or an advice. Can you show me the figure of Problems window and Advice window? In general, this info won't affect the building.

3). If you use the CCS, what are the version of CCS and SDK ?

    Best Regards,

  • This is a project from the SDK that I have made no changes to.

  • Hello Chris,

I have tried on my side. It is just a notice. As long as there is no "error", it won't affect the building. Please try to build it again and check whether you can get correct results.

  • It does compile/build however speaking as a longtime TI customer and a new CCS user its been my experience that ignoring warnings is bad AND allowing false warnings to be issued from tools is also bad.  Either way this is a bug and needs to be fixed so your next new user does not waste their time and yours asking what they are getting the warning.  Please report the bug,

  • Hello Chris,

Thanks for your commons and I will report this issue and discuss with our software team later.
