RM57L843: eQEP special pin muxing

Hi,

I was just reading through special pin muxing for eQEP in reference manual. It says that the inputs to eQEP module can be connected in two ways.

1. Double-synchronized using VCLK3

2. Double-synchronized using VCLK3 and then filtered through a 6-VCLK3-cycle counter

Could anyone tell me what exactly does filtering through a 6 VCLK3 - cycle counter do?
