Tool/software:
Dear AM263x Team,
I have posted a question to Marlyn Rosales which she has asked me to feed into the E2E design support thread:
I have a question on MCAL status – specifically the possibility of the EQEP receiving a FUSA certified MCAL for AM263x.
In the functional safety concept for the traction inverter we are developing for several OEMs we see strong benefit in implementing both absolute position sensing and an incremental sensor path (via the eQEP)
Our concept for the position sensing systems uses two sensors:
- An absolute position sensor which communicates with the uC over SPI and uses the TI SPI MCAL.
- An incremental Quadrature encoder which communicates with the uC via three lines (ABI) and is intended to be read by the eQEP.
The issue we have is that we really require the eQEP to be FUSA certified but in the FUSA MCALs currently released, there is no MCAL for the eQEP. We see this has being highly beneficial for the FUSA strategy and although we might be able to decompose the requirement to reduce the ASIL level we think this is the less preferred approach.
Many of the secondary functionalities of the eQEP are attractive and we would like to use such as speed determination etc, but the fundamental edge counting function is really the critical requirement at ASIL-D
Can you update me if it is possible/practical to prepare an eQEP FUSA MCAL or whether there is an approach we could take to commission Vector to develop this (should it be necessary).
Would appreciate your feedback on this soon.
Many thanks,
John
