Hi expert,

I'm trying to get profiling information to analyze where is bottleneck of customer code. I use a demo code to test first.

I follow the instructions as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hEY0sZToUE shows. However, I only get file based information. I can't get more detail information in function level.

I would like to know if there is any limitation to use with AM263x? If it doesn't, how can I get function level profile information?

I tried several times. No, double click file name doesn't work. My CCS Version is 12.7. JTAG is XDS560. Looks like code trace also doesn't provide useful information neither. I only can see each assembly code, not C functions.

I will need to try this out in my local environment. Please note that it is a local holiday here so I will take a look tomorrow when I am back in the office.

Please note that core trace is using the ETB. There are some limitations with using the ETB due to the small buffer size:

Hence you would only see trace data collected for a small portion of the application.

If you wish to get full code coverage information, hardware trace will not be enough. You should take a look at compiler based code coverage: https://software-dl.ti.com/codegen/docs/tiarmclang/compiler_tools_user_guide/compiler_manual/code_coverage/source_based_code_coverage.html

This looks like a regression as I can reproduce the issue using CCS 12.7.1 and also 12.5.0.

It seems to work with CCS 11.2.0 (which is the same version I used to create the video you referenced). Unfortunately that old version does not support your device.

However, please note that we have deprecated support for our CCS Eclipse based products. CCS 12.8.0 is last CCS Eclipse based product we don't have any future releases planned. The TVT Code Profile/Coverage is even worse there as it does not work at all it seems.

We are using a new trace framework in our new CCS Theia environment. However, we don't support the profile/coverage functionality there, only the raw core trace information.

Based on this and the fact that you will likely want full coverage information, I recommend exploring the compiler code coverage functionality I mentioned earlier.
