But I have difficulty understanding this.
I would like to know what exactly I need to do on the software side.

This is specific to the Legacy Boot flow. The ROM supports Combined Boot flow, which is used by the SDKs, where the SYSFW is loaded by ROM itself.
Please refer the following section in the TRM
The boot flow is all implemented by the SDKs
