TMS470R1A384: TMS470R1A384PZ

Part Number: TMS470R1A384

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

I am trying to program the 3 flash blanks Bank0, Bank1 and Bank2 of TMS470R1A384PZ. I am able to read bank0 and bank1 of the programmed chip.

Is there any difference is reading/accessing bank2? Also do we mandatorily needs pins 10 11 and 15 of the chip to access the memory banks?

Thanks

    Hi,

When you read from bank2, what do you read? When you program bank2, are you seeing anything peculiarly different from bank0 and bank1? What tool are you using to program the device?

Also do we mandatorily needs pins 10 11 and 15 of the chip to access the memory banks?

Pin10.11 are the JTAG TMS pins. It is for the debugger to access the device through JTAG interface. There is no reason that these pins will disallow accesses to any particular bank unless in your programming tool setting that was somehow misconfigured with a smaller flash size.

Please also note that this device is NRND (Not Recommended for New Design) as shown on the product website.

  • We are using our in-house programmer to read the flash. I see Bank2 reading FF's. Able to read bank0 and bank1. The memory map is from 00000-2FFFF device words.

  • The memory map is from 00000-2FFFF device words.

What is your definition of a word? Bank2 starts at byte address 0x40000. See below datasheet for the memory map. If your definition of a word is 32-bits then Bank2 starts at word address 0x10000.

  • My definition of a word is 2 bytes (16 bits), so bank 2 starts 0x20000. Is there a reason why this device is not recommended for newer designs.
Also can you please provide flash programming manual for this device.

Ok. that is fine. This is why I wanted to know your definition of a word.

In general, our process to evaluate whether a device is NRND depends if a device has limited or no activity for an extended time period. Please contact your local TI representative.

Also can you please provide flash programming manual for this device.
