MSPM0L1106: MCU 1.8 Volt operation

Tool/software:

Hello,

May I have question about MSPM0 supply voltage and LPM current?

I think MSPM0 series allow 1.8V (Vdd) operation, because BOR(default) is under 1.62V so 1.8V supply can start mcu operation same as 3.3V supply.

However I believe the DS spec of LPM mode is tested on 3.3V supply.

Do you have anything to data, application note, so on of  LPM current spec in 1.8V operation?

Best regards,

GR

  • Hi GR,

At the moment we do not have any spec for voltages other than the +3.3v.  However, the team is currently working to further characterize power consumption across operating modes and peripheral usage.  Is this something a customer is asking for and if so which low power mode specifically, or all of them?

  • Hi Dennis,

    Thanks for your information.

It is good news for us that you are working to add this information.

Is this something a customer is asking for and if so which low power mode specifically, or all of them?

    Yes.

My customer is considering MSPM0 and Renesas RL78.

    Cost is better MSPM0.

However low power mode that SRAM holding state is more low^power RL78 than MSPM0.

I believe RL78 is pure-5V MCU, so it can not comparate "µA" spec simply.

Thus I compare same spec. It will same(RL78 is better) when I change to "mW" dimention.

So I wonder if MSPM0 1.8V operetion can win RL78??

(I believe ALU voltage is 1.2V or 1.1V, So if 1.8V operation will lower internal LDO loss current)

    Best regards,

    GR

  • Hi GR,

Let me check with our systems engineer on this spec.

  • Hi GR,

Sorry for delayed response.  According to our system design engineer there are no plans to characterize the current and voltages other than 3.3v.   BTW, in "Shutdown" mode the current is ~60nA @ 3.3v.  Are you at liberty to say who the customer is and yearly run rate?  If so, can you send me a E2E friendship request so you share information privately.

I will send e-mail for detail.
