Hi,

TI EtherCAT slave stack is time-limited when running EtherCAT OP mode. How can we remove this time limitation?

For example, can we get evaluation license for use for half-year without limiting duration of OP mode?
Can purchase full license? We already have license of Beckhoff Slave Stack. Is there any possibility to use that license?

Hello Jinlong,

The EtherCAT examples provided with the Industrial Communication SDK are time limited to 1 hour. To overcome this time limitation the customers should recompile the licensed Beckhoff Slave Stack Code (SSC) sources and generate the unlimited time version of EtherCAT Beckhoff libraries and use these libs to recompile the SDK examples.

The details of Beckhoff library creation can be found at Beckhoff SSC Library Creation and readme.md file in <IND-COMMS-SDK>\source\industrial_comms\ethercat_slave\stack\patch\SlaveFiles\src .

One important caveat - in order to have that shared object from the EtherCAT Technology Group (ETG) the company needs to be a member of the ETG.

I use the motor control sdk and need to adapt the path of tiarmclang. Otherwise, re-build works.

I have just programmed the application image to the flash on AM243x-LP board. Can one somehow tell from the startup message if the slave application is time-limited?

Hello Jinlong Shen,

Yes. For the time-limited version of the EtherCAT slave, the vendor ID shall be 0xE000059D and for the full version (not time limited), the vendor ID shall be 0x0000059D.

Should customers using AM243x chips use the code of TI? We have our own vendor ID that is different from that of TI.

Hello Jinlong Shen,

No. TI provides the EtherCAT stack examples with the secondary Vendor ID 0xE000059D. This is a Vendor ID derived from the original Vendor ID 0x0000059D that allows one to identify the original vendor of a technology product and is invalid in the context of conformance testing.

Each EtherCAT compliant device has to implement the worldwide unique Vendor ID assigned by ETG. Refer page Vendor ID.

Customers must use their unique Vendor ID obtained from ETG.

Please refer the EtherCAT Vendor ID List.
