MSPM0G3507: Code not getting loaded with external oscillator

Hi,

We haven't encounter this issue on MSPM0G3507 devices. Do you mean that when the MCU is running at 80MHz, you will observe issues when you try to program the MCU? 

And it should not related what kind of application code you are programming to the MCU, right?

Hi,

These are the frequencies which i am configuring it with. I went for lower CPU clock as well. I am able to load the code and when i press the run button it's not loaded (I have kept a GPIO to toggle which does not toggle when I hit the run button). Also when i disconnect and connect it back it goes to these lines mentioned below before pressing run button:

I am using external clock of 20 MHZ and when i tried routing it to GPIO and it comes out distorted:

With internal clock /SystemPLL(With internal clock i dont face any such issues) clock routed :

You MCLK is 72MHz not 80MHz. There is a difference here. 

When using SYSPLL to generate clocks. It is recommend to set the VCO frequency as 160MHz. Could you follow this advice and test again?

also, the above comments i have put the external clock 20MHz picture would that be the reason? as it's coming somewhat distorted.

(Code Sometimes Gets loaded and sometimes not).

I would consider the distorted is normal on the 20MHz output signal. In that picture, the frequency of that signal is still around 20MHz. According to the CLK OUT configuration, you directly output the HFCLK on the CLK output pin. So, the frequency matches. About the distortion, enabling the CLK output on a GPIO pin would introduce extra parasitic capacitance into the HFXT oscillation circuit. And could bring distortion to the signal. 

I am more curious about why it could not download the code somehow. What error reported when there is a failure programming?

When i run the code an empty watch window comes and current drawn is less .

An Led is kept to toggle for verification. It does not toggle.

I disconnect and connect again without hitting the run button it directs me to this:

In the second picture, it means the SYSPLL is not ready. That could cause by the source HFXT is not working somehow. You can try change the load capacitor value. 

And could you share what is your HFXT configuration, like below?

Can you suggest what is the recommended time for 20MHZ crystal oscillator(200-20-30B-DU..as part number).
