EK-TM4C123GXL: Importing CCS Projects Error Messages

Where are trying to import the examples from? From CCS Resource Explorer or from TivaWare SDK?

I will suggest you do the following:

1. Create a new worksapce. 

2. If you have not done so, download the latest TivaWare from https://www.ti.com/tool/SW-TM4C

3. Install TivaWare and you should see all the examples for EK-TM4C123GXL at C:\ti\TivaWare_C_Series-2.2.0.295\examples\boards\ek-tm4c123gxl. See below. 

4. Import any project from the above path by clicking the Import. See below. 

I am trying to import from C:\ti\tivaware_c_series_2_1_4_178\examples\boards\ek-tm4c123gxl 

1. How do I create a new workspace?

2. Should I download SW-TM4C-2.2... or SW-EK-TK4MC123GXL-2.2... ?

4. I am importing that way and those are the error messages that are popping up.

2.1.4.178 is an old version. I will recommend you use the latest version.

You just create a new folder in any place you want in your filesystem. You use that newly created folder as your workspace.

If you want the complete TivaWare SDK that also supports other TM4C variants then you will download the SW-TM4C-2.2.0.295. You can also download SW-EK-TK4MC123GXL-2.2.0.295 which is only a partial SDK specific for TM4C123 MCU. Either one is fine.

Try the the new version as mentioned and a new workspace as mentioned and report back the result. 

I downloaded SW-TM4C-2.2.0.295 and created a new folder and switched over the workspace. Upon switching and launching CCS, I got the following "CrashTrackerJob" error message (see attached). I pressed okay to continue and tried importing one of the project examples. However, there was another issue (attached). Both messages are "Could not initialize class com.ti.utility.filesystem.DirectoryService..."

Which CCS version are you using? Try to download a new CCS version. If a new CCS version does not resolve I will forward your question to our CCS expert. 

I am on the latest version (12.8.1) already since I just downloaded CCS last week .

Try reinstalling the MSVC redistribute libraries.

Thanks for the update Eric. By rerunning the installer, the MSVC redistributes must have successfully installed this time.

Hello Ki, I thought the issue was resolved, but I am having trouble importing the example CCS projects again. I was able to import blinky successfully and run it on my launchpad. When trying to import another example project, I get an error related to meta-data. 

The TivaWare examples are fairly old and the projects have a dependency on an older compiler version (18.12.x). Try installing the 18.12.x compiler and then reimport the project:
