AM2434: Even though “Go to implementation” is selected on the editor, “no implementation” is displayed and function jump is impossible.

Part Number: AM2434
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG

Tool/software:

Hi,

My customer is using CCS Theia for AM243x.

Even though “Go to implementation” is selected on the editor, “no implementation” is displayed and function jump is impossible.

Do you know what’s wrong ? What should they modify ?

Example code : tidep_01032_dual_motor_driver\single_chip_servo.

Thanks and regards,

Hideaki

  • Matsumoto-san,

    Example code : tidep_01032_dual_motor_driver\single_chip_servo.

Note that this project is a sysconfig project. You would need to build the project first to have some of the required source files generated. Once the files are generated, they can be parsed for the editor functionality like "go to implementation" to be able to find implementations from the generated file. Did you try building the project first?

    Thanks

  • Hi Ki,

The customer has built the project, but it does not work. For sample projects in the MCU+ SDK, they are able to jump to implementation, but for projects in the motor control SDK, they are not able to. Do they need to change some setting like the source directory or is it maybe because the project is too large?

  • but for projects in the motor control SDK, they are not able to.

This seems to works for me in the single_chip_servo example after I successfully built it once. Which exact symbols in the source have they tried with where it did not work?

  • I will have to ask my customer, can you tell me where it worked for you so that I can check on my own? I tried in CCS cloud, but could not jump to implementation. Have not checked yet with the standalone CCS theia but will check.

    -Mari

  • Just to update, I also was not able to jump to implementation in standalone CCS Theia.

Jump to declaration and jump to definition work properly. Is there some limit to what can jump to implementation?

    -Mari

  • I reread your post and realized I originally misread it the first time. You would use "go to definition" to jump to the source where the function is defined while "go to declaration" would go to the declaration of it.

I have the same issue with "go to implementation". I think this feature is language based.

  • Hi Ki,

I confirmed with customer more details on this issue.

They are not able to do any type of go to feature, including go to definition or go to declaration. It makes it very difficult for them to develop in CCS theia when they're dealing with big projects.

Is there something in the ccs settings they should check?

    Best regards,

    Mari Tsunoda

  • After the customer built the project once, can they open main.c and then try "go to definition" for the System_init() function on line 37?
