AM2432: Application not running from the flash in QSPI mode

Part Number: AM2432
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM2434

Tool/software:

Hi Experts,
Currently, we are working on the board bring up process for the custom board that we created using the AM2432 BSFFHIALXR SOC.

We successfully parsed the sbl_null and sbl.ospi.cfg in UART mode after setting up the device in UART boot mode and first making sure the character "C" was present in the serial terminal.

After that, we returned to QSPI boot mode, however the serial terminal did not display the desired outcome. The configured serial port will not receive anything (such as "Hello world printing in loop").

The default flash that came with the AM2434 LP is what we are using it.

When switching back to the QSPI mode, we verified that the same application image that had been parsed to AM2434 LP produced the expected result. However the Custom board did not giving the expected result.

What do you suspect will be the problem in this case?

  • What are your SYSBOOT pins set to for QSPI boot mode?  Can you try setting the boot mode to SPI boot mode to see if you can successfully boot?  What QSPI device are you using?

    Regards,

  • Hi James,

    Thanks for your response.

I attempted boot mode pins to SPI mode also,it didn't work.

Our custom board we are using the same flash IC which used in the AM2434 LP. ( Infineon - S25HL512 )

  • Is the connection on the custom board the same as on the AM2434 LP?  Can you post that portion of the schematic?

Can you probe the QSPI signals to ensure you are getting a proper clock, chip select, etc?  In other words, does it appear that the processor is attempting to boot from the flash.

When you flashed the device using UART, were you able to read out of the flash device to verify the contents?

    Regards,

    James
