In this thread we asked about the uniqueness of MAC Address and u mentioned that it's not unique.

But we checked the MACFuse Reg and found the MAC already written

So does it mean that SOCs are already delivered with mac addresses but uniqueness is not guaranteed?

Can we change the value in this FUSE? Isn't this FUSE OTP?

what is the benefit of using this FUSE to store the MAC Address as we could store it in any location in the NOR memory ?

Hello Ahmed,

For the device you checked, is it a TI EVM or a TI silicon sample you've mounted on one of your boards?

I was talking with one of my team members who handles some of the eFUSE files and they indicated that this should not be programmed as part of our FUSE process. But if this is on a TI EVM I would need to check if we load the MAC address for that EVM into eFUSE which may be part of the process for EVM building.

Hi Ahmed,

Thanks for following up on this topic and challenging my prior response. Now that I've talked with some additional teams, I can say that we are programming MAC addresses into each device's eFUSE at the TOP_CTRL_MAC_ID0 and TOP_CTRL_MAC_ID1 locations.

I am working to verify 100% that these are unique MAC IDs for each SoC but what I have been told so far is that yes a unique MAC ID is being programmed per SoC.

I will amend my reply on the prior post as well to refer to this one instead.
