AM2632-Q1: About measuring pulse period/frequency.

Part Number: AM2632-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello expert.

Is it correct to understand the following about measuring pulse period using ECAP module of the AM264x?

5[nS] time resolution x 32-bit data field = Measurable period (max) 21.47[S] / 0.046[Hz]

I want to measure signal frequency less than 5Hz.

This may be a basic question, but please forgive me.

Best regards,

Yu sato

  • Hello Sato-san,

The 0.046Hz mention isn't really relevant here because that loses the context of 21.47seconds is the max duration you can sample at 200MHz before your 32-bit data field overflows.

What is relevant is your 5Hz signal has a period of 0.2 seconds which is smaller than your max duration.

  • Hello Jacobi-san,

Thank you for your quick response.

The 0.2 seconds pulse signal we want to measure is shorter than the max duration (21.47 seconds) and therefore measurable.

I am grateful that I was able to confirm this.
