AM2434: EtherCAT DC_SYNC1 behavior

Hi Erik,

In TwinCAT > Device 2 (EtherCAT) > Box > EtherCAT (tab) > Advanced Settings > Distributed Clock, there is a section to configure SYNC 1 shift time. Can you try providing a shift time and see if you're getting the required behavior?

We use SOEM, but I did try it with TwinCAT 3.11 now using the AM243x EVM and the beckohoff subdevice example. With a cycletime of 2ms and a shift time of 700us.

The behaviour was sadly still consistent with 2x DC_SYNC_0. Brown is DC_SYNC_1, red is DC_SYNC_0.

Hi Erik,

A quick check on the configuration. Can you provide the value in Reg.0x9A4-0x9A7 (SYNC1 Cycle Time). This register will tell the Time between SYNC1 and SYNC0 pulses in ns. If 700us is not configured in those registers, can you provide the shift time required in that register and see if you're getting the expected signals while probing?

• For AM243x-EVM, you can probe SYNC0 and SYNC1 pins.

• For AM243x-LP, you can probe J7.3 (63) and J7.5 (65) pins on the LaunchPad.

I tried to monitor sync0 and sync1 on the oscilloscope according to your picture, but there is no signal.

I used \ind_comms_sdk_am243x_09_02_00_08\examples\industrial_comms\ethercat_slave_beckhoff_ssc_demo as the slave, TWINCAT is the master, need I configure example.syscfg or others else to monitor sync0 and sync1?

• No change is required. By building and running the default application, you should be able to monitor them.

• Please refer to the first reply in this thread. To check the value, you can check for memory address 0x30090000 + 0x09A4 in the "Memory Browser" of CCS.
