Hi there,

I would like to request TI to add an API to bypass calling PHY drivers of PHY_IN or PHY_OUT in use case of EtherCAT communication, when users set the PHY as BYPASS in syscfg. Currently there is no BYPASS option.

Can you clarify more on this requirement? This is a single physical port use case for EtherCAT where you do not want to have second port with PHY ?

The use cases are as follows. We wish to support our use case by TI tools and SDK.

Typical USE CASE
EtherCAT_Master... PHY_IN_EtherCAT_SlaveNode1_PHY_OUT <--> PHY_IN_EtherCAT_SlaveNode2_PHY_OUT ...

Our USE CASE
EtherCAT Master ... PHY_IN_EtherCAT_SlaveNode1 --- EtherCAT_SlaveNode2_PHY_OUT ...

I do not think we can support this use case as we do not support EtherCAT without PHYs (you may emulate PHYs and link for the Node1 OUT and Node 2 IN using external FPGA). I am still not able to understand the motivation behind this. Why can't you double the process data to address both nodes via EtherCAT application?

I cannot disclose the motivation here. But Beckhoff says their ESC should work with Our USE CASE.
