AM2634: To implment IPC between all the cores that that freertos

Hi Team,

I am using below project with all cores having freertos. So that I can create multiple tasks. Now, I want to add IPC to all cores to send and receive message. But IPC example in resource explorer has only core 0 with freeRTOS and remaining all with no-rtos.

Please let me know how to add IPC to empty project that has all cores with freertos

Hi Ajit,

This is not a part of the Standard SDK and is the GitHub MCU_PLUS_SDK. The test folder contains a unit-test that configures IPC on all 4 cores that run FreeRTOS. I have tested it locally and verified it works.

Thanks for the response. I have check above link. But it shows its not using any RTOS. Can you please redirect me to proper folder? I think I am missing something.

I am trying to setup this project in CCS. But it does not show project whenver I try to load into CCS. I have downloaded all the files from link above.

Hi Ajit,

As mentioned this is not a standard SDK example. This is just reference code, I don't think its possible to directly import it in CCS. I will raise a request to have a multicore FreeRTOS based IPC project in the SDK for the 1Q2025 release.

I am trying to implement logic mention in above example in empty code with freertos. I am facing some issues with it. Can you please give me the steps that I can follow while merging the code in empty code.

Hi Ajit,

The steps I would follow are:

1. Take the empty systems project with all cores as freertos, import it in CCS.

2. Copy all the files from GitHub (linker, syscfg, code, header files, makefile). Make sure the main.c files for all cores are correct (have FreeRTOS configuration and task creation, scheduler API calls etc). Make sure the example.syscfg files have memory configurator setup correctly, along with IPC configured correctly.

Can you let me know what issues are you facing exactly?

Hi Ajit,

To help you out I have created a CCS project for you. Please use the below project.

I used the same steps mentioned above. Please unzip the folder and import all 5 CCS projects. The Syscfg version used is 1.21. TI-ARM-CLANG version used is 4.0.1 LTS and SDK version is 10.00.00.35.

IPC_4core_FreeRTOS.zip

Note: The project is not a part of standard SDK, has some minor build warnings as well, and is not thoroughly tested. It might throw runtime errors. This is just a reference project on how to setup IPC on 4 core FreeRTOS. The official support from TI on such an example can be expected in future releases.
