TMS570LS3137-EP: XDS200 Probe Error -241

Part Number: TMS570LS3137-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LS3137

Tool/software:

Dear Team,

My customer is using the =XDS2xx Debug probe for development, but receive an error when trying to access any custom board or eval board.

Do you have any hint on how they can resolve this issue?

Thank you,

Daniel Waleniak

  • Hi Daniel,

Is this a newly purchase XDS200 debug probe?

Has it been working in the past or it is showing the error message as a open-box?

How many LaunchPad or EVM boards have been tried? Are they are having the same error?

Are there other debug probes available that can be tried to prove that it is not a board problem but rather limited to this XDS200 probe? If you can prove that other probes can debug/program the boards fine then it is a good indication that it is this XDS200 debug probe problem.

Please also make sure the target configuration file is properly setup for XDS200 on TMS570LS3137.

Please refer to this troubleshooting link about XDS200 error -241. https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/documents/ccs_debugging_jtag_connectivity_issues.html. Follow the troubleshooting tips as mentioned.

  • Hi Charles,

It was working very well until the last 2-3 weeks.

They tried on 2-3 of the custom boards and 2-3 EVM boards and got the same error on every attempt.

They used the same configuration many times so it could not be a config issue

Unfortunately right now they do not have a working debugger as one crashed some time ago and the second one broke recently (this thread)

If this is the case, it seems that the debug probe is somehow bricked.

I don't know if you can recover the probe but follow the instructions in this XDS200 Troubleshooting guide to see if you can recover the probe by updating the firmware. https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/documents/xdsdebugprobes/emu_xds200.html. If the firmware update does not resurrect the device, I'm not sure what else to suggest.
