TMDSEMU110-U: Regarding the specifications of the converter adapter that comes with it.

Part Number: TMDSEMU110-U
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSHSECDOCK

Tool/software:

I would like to know the specifications of the converter adapter that comes with the TMDSEMU110-U (JTAG Debug Probe).

I would like information such as the external appearance, the connector used, and the recommended specifications of the mating connector.

I'm mainly thinking of the 10-pin type, but would also like to know about the 20-pin type.

Thank you in advance.

  • I think the information is here: JTAG Connectors and Pinout

    Specifically:

  • Hi Kier

Thank you for your quick reply.

    I may have misunderstood.

Looking at the documents you sent, it seems that the configuration is to attach a

"CTI-20 to Cortex-M 10-pin adaptor" to the "XDS110 Probe" and connect it to the

connector on the target board via the "Debug probe connector" of each manufacturer

    mentioned in the documents, right?

I thought that the configuration was to connect the "XDS110 Probe" and "CTI-20 to

Cortex-M 10-pin adaptor" with a cable and then fit the "CTI-20 to Cortex-M 10-pin adaptor"

to the connector on the target board.

My initial thought was wrong, and if the above thinking is correct, the problem is solved.

    Best regards,

  • Hello Yamada-san,

I thought that the configuration was to connect the "XDS110 Probe" and "CTI-20 to

Cortex-M 10-pin adaptor" with a cable and then fit the "CTI-20 to Cortex-M 10-pin adaptor"

to the connector on the target board.

    This sounds correct to me.

Apologies but I can only advise on how I connect the debugger in my situation.

I use ribbon cable plugged into the TMDSEMU110-U then I attach the CTI-20 to TI 14-pin adaptor. This is then plugged into the TMDSHSECDOCK.

I don't use the other adaptors:

    - CTI-20 to Cortex-M 20-pin adaptor

    - CTI-20 to Cortex-M 10-pin adaptor

So I guess this is not very helpful.

  • Yamada-san,

Is your issue resolved? Or do you have any further questions?

  • Hi Kier

    Thank you for your comment.

I'm sorry that my translation into English didn't seem to get through well.

I also watched YouTube and understood.

So you connect a converter adapter to the 20-pin debug cable and then connect it directly to the connector on the target board, right?

I'm connecting via SWD so I'll be using a 10-pin converter adapter, but are there any documents that show the external dimensions?

If I don't want to connect the 10-pin converter adapter directly to the connector on the target board, can I just connect the

debug probe connector (cable assembly) that is listed in the documents you sent me before?

    Best regards,

    Hiroshi Yamada

  • So you connect a converter adapter to the 20-pin debug cable and then connect it directly to the connector on the target board, right?

Yes, this is correct if you are using the TMDSHSECDOCK board that Kier shows in the posted image.

I'm connecting via SWD so I'll be using a 10-pin converter adapter, but are there any documents that show the external dimensions?

This page has links to the components, where you can find the dimensions: https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/documents/xdsdebugprobes/emu_jtag_connectors.html

  • Hi Brennan

    Thank you for the information.

However, I checked the page and links you provided, but I was unable to find the external dimensions

of the 10-pin converter adapter I want to use.

    Perhaps I'm checking incorrectly?

I did find information about the connector used.

I'm sorry to bother you again, but I would appreciate any more information.

    Best regards,

    Hiroshi Yamada

  • However, I checked the page and links you provided, but I was unable to find the external dimensions

of the 10-pin converter adapter I want to use.

The dimensions of the debug probe connector are not publicly available.

However, you can check the third party debug probe connectors here as a reference.
