CCS Theia version: 1.5.0

How would I start Theia GUI and open custom workspace folder CCS from Theia CLI?

Let's say I have a folder 'myworkspace' and it has few CCS Theia projects. I want to open it using MS Windows batch file.

So far, any attempt to use 'ccstheia150\ccs\theia\ccstudio.exe' with '-workspace' or '-data 'results in a list of errors and opening of the default '<user>/workspace_ccstheia' folder.

Is there a CLI option to direct CCS Theia GUI to uses non default workspace root other than '<user>/workspace_ccstheia' folder?

In addition to this I observe non standard behavior with 'start "" C:\ti\ccstheia150\ccs\theia\ccstudio.exe' command in batch file. It looks like CCS Theia keeps parent CMD window running even when it exists.

Hi Eugene,
I would recommend using the --root-dir=<path-to-folder> argument. i.e ccstudio --root-dir=C:\temp. Moreover, I recommend to update your CCS version to the latest 20.0

Hello Diego,

Thank you that worked. Now, how to I load/open .theia-workspace file in the same command?

FYI, I use CCS Eclipse Theia which is at 1.5.1(https://www.ti.com/tool/download/CCSTUDIO-THEIA/1.5.1).

Hi Eugene,

After talking with our software team, I noticed that there isn't such an option. I would recommend looking at all available options with the command ccstudio --help and reading the CCS Theia User Guide 6. Projects and Build section.

As a side note, CCS Theia's newest version is the CCS 20.0. TI recommends using it for the best experience.

Hi Diego,

This is confusing. What is CCS 20.0 and what is CCS Theia 1.5.0 which is the link in your response? Somewhere on TI sites there is recommendation to use Theia (at least for MSPM0) and statement that original Eclipse CCS (with CDT etc.) will become obsolete.

I looked into CCS Theia User Guide and there is no option to load .theia-workspace as it is GUI file not CLI file and I need to use GUI. In 6.1. Creating and Managing Projects — Code Composer Studio Theia 1.5.0 Documentation there is talk about supporting workspaces. The original Theia IDE supports loading workspace file from CLI into GUI. Why is it not supported with CCS Theia?

Hi Eugene,

You are correct; the original Eclipse CCS has become obsolete. CCS 20.0 is the new "branding" of CCS Theia (CCS 20 uses the Theia IDE). Since 1.5.0 is not the newest version of CCS Theia, I recommend checking it in CCS 20.0. as well as in its Userguide. If you see that is still not possible, I'll let the software team know.
