LP-MSPM0G3507: Real time Debugging Issues with Application Board

Part Number: LP-MSPM0G3507
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSPM0G3507,

Tool/software:

Dear Team,

Greetings!!!!

We have shortlisted the MSPM0G3507 MCU for one of the power converter applications (AC-DC). We are using the "LP-MSPM0G3507" evaluation board for real-time debugging.

We are facing a debugging issue with the application board, once it will connected with rated input and output.

The issue is "the application board will get disconnected from debug state, once we provide the input to the Board.

Without, applying input, the board will come to the debugging state.

Kindly support for the same.

  • Hi Piyush,
Could you share the voltages you input into the board? In the meantime, double-check the jumper configuration recommendation from the Code Project's README file (could you also share which project you are using for your project) and see if that helps the launchpad exit debug mode.
    Best Regards,
    Diego Abad

  • Hi Mr. Diego

    Thanks for your reply.

We are providing the rated input voltage of 230VAC.

The content of README.MD file is

    PA23 VREF VREF+ N/A
    • PA23 can be connected to GND using C7 or to VREF- using C8
      • C8 is soldered by default connecting pin to VREF-
      • C7 is not soldered by default and can be used for a custom capacitor to GND
    • PA23 can be connected to boosterpack connector
      • R22 is not soldered by default
      • Solder R22 to connect pin to J28_10
    PA11 COMP0 OUT J4_33/J26_6
    • PA11 can be connected to XDS-110 backchannel, boosterpack connector or CAN/LIN connector:
      • To use on boosterpack connector and disconnect XDS-110:
        J22 2:3: Connect pin to J4_33
      • To use on J26 CAN/LIN connector:
R63 is populated by default and connects pin to J26_6
    PA26 COMP0 IN0+ J1_5
    • PA26 can be connected to photodiode D1
      • J18 OFF Disconnect from photodiode D1
    • PA26 can be connected to thermistor RT1
      • J9 1:2/OFF Disconnect from thermistor RT1
    PA27 COMP0 IN0- J1_8
    • PA27 can be connected to photodiode D1
      • J17 OFF Disconnect from photodiode D1
    PA20 DEBUGSS SWCLK N/A
    • PA20 is used by SWD during debugging
      • J101 15:16 ON Connect to XDS-110 SWCLK while debugging
      • J101 15:16 OFF Disconnect from XDS-110 SWCLK if using pin in application
    PA19 DEBUGSS SWDIO N/A
    • PA19 is used by SWD during debugging
      • J101 13:14 ON Connect to XDS-110 SWDIO while debugging
      • J101 13:14 OFF Disconnect from XDS-110 SWDIO if using pin in application

We have tried the same configuration, but the output remains the same.

    Thanks

    Piyush Kumar

  • Hi Piyush,
The MSPM0G3507 doesn't support a 230VAC input. The maximum ADC input it supports is VDD. Are you using an isolation scheme or directly applying the 230VAC to the pins?
    Best Regards,
    Diego Abad

  • I assume he means his application hardware. I would see if there is a ground loop between the hardware and the debugging PC. You might need a USB isolator for safety reasons. (Or use a laptop that is fully on battery power)

  • Hi Diego

The main application is an AC to DC converter. We are converting the input AC voltage to DC voltage which further reduces to 3.3VDC for MCU and other peripherals.

  • Yes, there is a ground loop between them. Currently, we are using "https://robu.in/product/adafruit-iso1540-bidirectional-i2c-isolator-stemma-qt-qwiic/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA4fi7BhC5ARIsAEV1YiZcZBLsUHG-2muSyNB7mRQHFOQYxOUSQ_a6b8I7zsu42O0EPw16YpIaAikmEALw_wcB".

You can also make suggestions, and we will try them.

  • As I said, a laptop on full battery should be fine.
