Yes, the system can continuously use the beginning 8/9th region of DDR.
Or is it a block unit (512 bytes) followed by 64 bytes of ECC?
The ECC values are stored inline with data, i.e 512 bytes of data followed by 64 bytes of ECC values. However, from system point of view, the 8/9th region of DDR is seen consecutive address bytes. Please refer to the paragraph below from the TRM.
