MSPM0G3107: Question on MCLK source at BOOT

Part Number: MSPM0G3107

Tool/software:

Just trying to confirm if my understanding on MCLK at BOOT is correct.

The TRM mentions SYSOSC is the clock source for MCLK at BOOT.

However, I don't see that represented in Figure 2-8 of the TRM.

Is MCLK sourced from a 4MHz SYSOSC on boot, or does SYSOSC go through the PLL circuitry and that output is MUXED to ensure it sources MCLK?

Also, I understand if high accuracy isn't required, no external clock is required for the MSPM0+, correct?

It can be setup to operate at 80MHz just from the internal SYSOSC?

  • Hi, Keito

The TRM mentions SYSOSC is the clock source for MCLK at BOOT.

    Yes, correct.

However, I don't see that represented in Figure 2-8 of the TRM.

Maybe, in Figure 2-8, it won't told you that MCLK is source from SYSOSC at BOOT.

Is MCLK sourced from a 4MHz SYSOSC on boot, or does SYSOSC go through the PLL circuitry and that output is MUXED to ensure it sources MCLK?

No, 32MHz. No, MCLK directly source from SYSOSC.

You can refer to Syscfg's Clock Tree view, it more intuitive.

Also, I understand if high accuracy isn't required, no external clock is required for the MSPM0+, correct?

    Yes.

It can be setup to operate at 80MHz just from the internal SYSOSC?

    Yes.

    SYSOSC 32MHz -> SYSPLL 80MHz -< CPU and MCLK
