Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HALCOGEN
Tool/software:
Hello,
We have a few Hercules RM57 boards for initial development. For HalCoGen, we kept the default settings that align where the RM57 datasheet mentions default settings (i.e., Open drain, Pull up/down, etc.) for the pins. Question from the HW team -- are these default settings and the way the HalCoGen is set up for the different types of pins along with the schematic for the Hercules reference board a recommendation from TI on how the HW team should design our board? In other words, what If the HW engineers designing our own company revision of the board change a UART Rx or SPI or I2C, etc. pin so it is not the same has how Hercules board and HalCoGen implemented it with open drains or Pull Ups/Pull downs for example, is this Ok as long as HalCoGen is configured to match their design. Or are the default values highly recommended not to deviate from for the processor functions on each to work in a stable way?
During meetings one of our team members on the HW engineering team has mentioned that i.e., their changes from the defaults and how Hercules board implemented these pins on the circuit do not matter since TI does not explicitly state their deviations would not work. What are the best practices recommended for the HW engineer designing our board based off the the RM57?
Thank you,
Tammy
