AM263P4: Power Estimation

Part Number: AM263P4

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

I plan to use all 8 CAN FD ports from the AM263P4 device. How can I estimate the power consumption for all 8 CAN ports operating at 5 Mbps on 3.3V? I haven't noticed a significant change in 3.3V power consumption when adjusting the tool settings between 5 and 8 Mbps speeds at 100% utilization.

Does this 100% utilization refer to all 8 CAN ports or just one?

Thanks

Dilip Kumar

  • Hello Dilip,

It refers to all 8 CAN ports.

Yes, there would be no significant difference in the mentioned settings. As a whole, the power drawn from the peripherals on 3.3V rail is quite insignificant compared to the power drawn on the 1.2V rail( .i.e. the core supply). Attaching the maximum power consumption table from the device datasheet as reference which brings out the difference between the 2:
