AM2732: What does MSS_RS232_TX/RX do?

Part Number: AM2732

Tool/software:

There are two pins, MSS_RS232_RX and MSS_RS232_TX that are not described anywhere I can find in the documentation  What do these pins do?  Can I use them as normal RS232 interfaces, or is this some special debug interface?  How should I wire it in?

Thanks,

-corey

  • I found the topic: AM2732: How to enable AM2732 MSS_RS232_TX/RX, but that doesn't tell me what I need to do with those pins. Do I need to wire them in somehow so the debugger can find them?  Or can I use those pins for other purposes?

  • Hi Corey,

Like mentioned on the post referenced above, the RS232 interface is just meant to enable application load via RS232. If you are using the standard JTAG/UART interface via the XDS emulator then I don't believe they are needed. In our AM273 EVM we pull them up as they are unused:

It doesn't mean that you can't use the pins at all, the datasheet describes other functions that you can configure those pins to:

The wiring will depend entirely on what function you decide to use them for.

    Best,

    Daniel
