TMS570LS3137: Does this MCU has a peripheral can be used to diagnose ECLK output from another 3137?

Part Number: TMS570LS3137

Tool/software:

Hi experts,

As a functional safety system, my customer using two pcs of TMS570LS3137. They want to have the two devices monitor each other's operation frequency through ECLK output. Say, MCU1 monitors MCU2's ECLK out, while MCU2 monitors MCU1's ECLK out. My question is does this device has a peripheral to implement this function?

Thank you!

John

  • Hi John,

I think you can use the DCC (Dual-Clock Comparator) for this purpose.

Using this module, we can compare two clock signals, so connect the ECLK out of the one controller to the EXTCLKIN1 or EXTCLKIN2 of the other controller, so that now in this other controller we can compare this EXTCLKIN signal with either oscillator frequency or with the HF LPO frequency.
