AM2434: On-chip Oscillator Clock Detection (OCOCLKDET) - no info in TRM

Part Number: AM2434

Tool/software:

The AM2434 Safety Manual (PRUIX6 – MARCH 2024) references the Diagnostic CLK1. This is the "On-chip Oscillator Clock Detection" (OCOCLKDET) (see chapter 6.3.117).

However the Technical Reference Manual (SPRUIM2H – MAY 2020 – REVISED OCTOBER 2023 ) does not seem to contain information on how to use, evaluated or disable OCOCLKDET.

Where can I find further info on this topic?

Thanks.

  • My understanding is that this clock detection cannot be disabled.  It is enabled by default at reset.  It's output is connected to the ESM, so you can choose to generate an error by configuring the ESM source #135 (see GLUELOGIC_HFOSC0_CLKLOSS_GLUE_REF_CLK_LOSS_DETECT_OUT_0 in the TRM)

I am double checking this understanding.

  • Hi, the above description is correct.  Please see section 5.4.4.2 Oscillator Clock Loss Detection for more details on this circuit.  There is also a CLKLOSS_SWITCH_EN which enables the automatic switch to the 12MHz RC oscillator.
