MSPM0L1106: About ADC VREF

Part Number: MSPM0L1106

Tool/software:

Hi team,

My customer is evaluating M0L1106. They have below two questions about ADC VREF. Please help clarify. Thank you.

1. For internal ADC reference voltage, there are two settings: 1.4V and 2.5V. Which setting can achieve more accuracy ?

2. They want to save power consumption. Which setting (1.4V or 2.5V) can have less power consumption ?

  • Hi Jerry,

As far as I know, according to the datasheet...

    1. For internal ADC reference voltage, there are two settings: 1.4V and 2.5V. Which setting can achieve more accuracy ?

If you are talking about the accuracy of the VREF itself, the answer is: it is same for both settings (±1.50% in 1.4V mode, ±1.52% in 2.5V mode).

If your customer wants higher accuracy, they can use an external Voltage reference. TI has many products which can be found here: https://www.ti.com/power-management/voltage-reference/overview.html

    2. They want to save power consumption. Which setting (1.4V or 2.5V) can have less power consumption ?

The supply current is the same (see the table below). So if it is working like an LDO (I am not sure), the 2.5V setting may have lower power consumption since the dropout voltage is less.

    I hope this helps.
