MCU-PLUS-SDK-AM243X: CSS 20.1.0: How to create a new project for ICSSG1-PRU1 or change an example from ICSSG0-PRU0 to ICSSG1-PRU1

I am experimenting with the mcu_plus_sdk_am243x_10_01_00_32\examples\pru_io\adc\ads85x8 demo which runs one of the projects on ICSSG0-PRU0. I want to create a project to run on ICSSG1-PRU1 as it has pins available that I want to control as well. I cannot find an example that is assigned to ICSSG1-PRU1 and can't figure out how to change any of the demo projects from the SDK to ICSSG1-PRU1 since it is locked in the project properties editor.

I have tried changing the target in .syscfg by using "SWITCH" device, but my CCS studio locks up after clicking OK in the Migrate dialog box.

Just to confirm, you are looking for an example similar to the ADS85x8 where the R5 core loads the ICSSG1 PRU1 binary? Are there any more requirements regarding the cores in your use case?

Hi Nitika,

You are correct I need a similar project to load which loads the ICSSG1 PRU1. I have no other special requirements.

Hi Keith,

You can do that just by changing the ICSS instance in the R5F project. Please find the steps for the empty example below:

1. Import the R5F and ICSS0 PRU1 empty example. In the R5F project sysconfig file, change the ICSS instance to ICSSG1

2. Build the PRU project and then the R5F project.

3. Load the R5F binaries on the core and run it.

This will load the binaries to ICSSG1 PRU1. You can connect to the PRU core, load the symbols and step into the code.

A quick note on linker command files

If you are running other software on ICSSG1 PRU0, note that you should make sure that the linker.cmd files that are used for the PRU0 and PRU1 projects do not conflict on their memory allocations.

Remember that PRU0 and PRU1 have a slightly different local memory map views - search the AM243x Technical Reference Manual (TRM) PRU chapter for "memory map" for more details.

AM64x has the same PRU_ICSSG subsystem as AM243x. I'll include 2 linker command files from AM64x projects as an example for how the linker.cmd file might be different for PRU0 vs PRU1.
