[FAQ] AM2612: Device 'Cortex R.AM261x' is not currently recognized: CCS is not detecting AM261x

Hi TI experts,

I am using CCS v12.8.1, MCU_PLUS_SDK for AM261x. If I try to import any example from AM261x MCU+ SDK, I get the following error:

Even if I try to create a new Project from scratch, it says "Device 'Cortex R.AM261x' is not currently recognized:"

    Hi,

    The CCS version 12.8.1 or 12.8.0 or earlier do not have in-built support for AM261x device. This needs to be added by following one of the below methods:

    1. Update Sitara MCU device support internally

      1.1. Download and install CCS 12.8.1 fresh(uninstall previous one)

      1.2. Click "Help" → Check for Updates

      1.3.Then after sometime you will see following pop up:

      1.4. Select Sitara MCU device support to get support for AM261x. Unselect other updates.

      1.5. Select agreement and click finish.

      1.6. Then after installation is complete , restart CCS

    2. If the SDK product was not correctly recognized in CCS, preventing the SDK project from being imported, go to the CCS menu -> `windows -> code composer studio -> products`, and refresh the products to solve the issue.

    If the above steps to detect auto-update fails, follow the steps below:

    1. In CCS, go to help -> Install new Software

    2. Click on add, and add the following "Code Composer Studio v8 Updates - http://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/CCSv12/Updates"

    3. Select Sitara Device Support and Sitara MCU Device support and install the device support

    4. Restart CCS and import AM261x examples and check if they build correctly.
