AM2612: AM261x ZEJ: Profinet pinout for 2ports using PHY DP83826 at 100Mbps

Hi TI expert,

I need to connect to two DP83826 PHY via MII / MDC / MDIO to an AM261x ZEJ.

It is not clear to me in SysConfig how I would do this most effectively. At this point I've selected the MII connections. However when I review AM261 and AM263 dev kit schematics they don't seem to use these.

please advice the correct pins to use for connecting to two DP83826. Thank you

note: The goal is to provide 2 x Profinet ports using a AM261x ZEJ.

Hi Dave, Apologies that you had to face the issue.

In syscfg you can select ICSS_EMAC. Profinet is enabled on AM261x using PRU ICSS nd ICSS EMAC is the driver layer for it.

You can see on the right once you add ICSS EMAC in syscfg it shows you the pins being utilized on the right.

Now as for the schematic design the difference is because of the LP-AM261x/AAM263x use ZCZ package which use ICSS0 for Profinet Support

On ZEJ package, ICSS1 will be used to support Profinet(difference in package type), so you can share the pins you have selected, I will loop in our HW expert to verify the same.

Hi Nilabh, I have pinned the AM261...ZEJ so MII, RMII, or RGMII could be used for each PHY connection. There are some pins where I was unable to avoid a clash of functions on the same pins so we may have to choose a protocol prior to spinning the PCB. Ideally I would be able to provide all three options to the software engineers so they can choose during development. If you can determine a pinout that can achieve this goal that would be excellent? I've attached my current pinning spreadsheet. Note my spreadsheet also includes my pinning for the Flash via QSPI, UART to our host uC, 250415-PHY-PINNING.xlsx

Could you create syscfg files for each configuration you are looking into (MII, RMII, RGMII) and post them to this thread? That will be a more effective way for me to review, as it will allow me to see pin conflicts and your peripheral requirements.

For PROFINET, like Nilabh mentioned in a previous reply, you need to implement the pins on PRU-ICSS1:

See the attached table for the ICSS to Ethernet signal mapping - note that it says EtherCAT, but the signal mapping applies for all Industrial Communications protocols.
