MCAL(Microcontroller Abstraction layer)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LS10106

Hi,

I have one question for Autosar.

My customer is concerning to use Hercules(TMS570LS10106) for ECU of EV.

So does TI provide the driver for Autosar MCAL layer?

Acccording to Hercules brochure, Hercules work with Autosar OS(Microsar , EB Tresos). Does this mean that Hercules driver works with MCAL layer?

Please let me know.

Best regards,

Michi

  • Hello Michi,

The MCAL is the microcontroller abstraction layer of AUTOSAR; it is necessary for the full AUTOSAR OS package to function.  TI currently works with 3rd parties to provide AUTOSAR OS packages including MCAL layer for the TMS570 products.  To my knowledge the MCAL is not available today as a separate product.  Who is your customer planning to use as their AUTOSAR OS vendor?

    Regards,

    Karl

  • MCAL 3.1 is currently available for the TMS570LS20216 superset device from Vector Informatik (which will also work on all the other devices as well).  Both Vector and Elecktrobit (EB) have full AUTOSAR RTE (Run Time Environment - including OS) available for the TMS570LS devices.  TI will be able to license the MCAL directly to customers in the near future, but for now we direct customers to Vector or Elektrobit and have them get the entire AUTOSAR package through them.  If the customer requests to get AUTOSAR from another provider we can certainly get that provider the MCAL.
