MSPM0G3507: MSPM0 G series Technical Reference Manual describes RS-485 support, but feature is not in device datasheet

Part Number: MSPM0G3507
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSPM0G1106, MSPM0G3506, TIDA-010243, SYSCONFIG

Tool/software:

Greetings,

I have a few product specific questions.

I am in the final stages of MCU selection, and I am almost sold on the MSPM0G3506/3507 or MSPM0G1106/1107 but native hardware support for Rx485 TxE/DE is a must.

The Technical reference manual describes RS-485 configuration for driving an external PHY (section 18.2.3.11, page 1358) using Extended UART.  The padding for stop and start bits make this even better.

BUT is this feature on the 110x/350x chips I am looking at?  There is a nasty little footnote in the Technical Reference, Table 18.1 on page 1347 which reads "Refer to the device-specific datasheet for the device-specific configuration of UART extend and UART main modules..."  The 485 feature is not mentioned in either device specific data sheets.

Will I get my programmer team in trouble with bootloaders (private/custom intended) using this RS-485 (if that UART function is supported at all).  RS-485 seems a bit of an afterthought.

While looking through other forum posts, I noticed other engineer/developers had trouble with development environments support for RS485 and other processors.  Is there an IDE that best supports the MSP M0 G family?

Thank you in advance!
