Software reset issue

Part Number: TMS570LC4357

Tool/software:

I'm working with Tms570LC4357 bootloader, at the end of bootloading it should jump to other address after resetting

I used system registers for this.

SYSECR=(0×10)<<14

It doesn't jump and not resetting when I use this software reset by writing to system register.

But when I try watchdog reset counter,it resets.

What should I do to have software reset?

Seems like you are writing into the wrong bits, we should write 0x0, 0x2 or 0x3 to do software reset.

You can find example project in below link:

You cannot directly use above example, but you can copy the main function code and can use it in your application.

Hi Jagadish,

I tried executing the above example,but still it couldn't solve the issue,it doesn't reset when I write 0 or 2 or 3 in the reset bits of SYSECR register

When I see SYSESR register,it shows 0x800, meaning Software reset but is not set

Hi Geetha,

I also mentioned verification procedure for software reset in my previous thread right, are you following the same method. It should work because i tested it.

And also, if you are using watchdog reset or any other resets please don't do them, because they might do the reset before software reset happen.

Hi Jagadish,

Yah I tried working on the thread you had given in the example,it worked fine when I assign the software reset value to the register, and it looked the same way as given in the thread

I need to use this reset before jumping to the other address. At this point,it doesn't work

I have given

SYSECR=0x8000

And I have not been using any other resets

My apologies for the delayed response, i was off for few days and didn't get any chance to work on further this issue.

What is mean by it doesn't work? What is the error you are getting? What made you think it didn't work?

If you provide some screenshots that would be very useful.

At any part of the code if you write "SYSECR=0x8000" then it should reset the controller, there won't be any dependency on where the core executing.

The only thing to make sure is that you should write in privilege mode.
